Book direct on this site and the total shown at Stripe checkout is the total you pay, with no booking-platform service fee on top.

Which municipalities near Armação de Pêra do charge one?

The Algarve is not uniform on this. Silves, which covers Armação de Pêra, charges nothing. Two immediate neighbours do charge a municipal tourist tax on overnight stays: Albufeira and Lagoa. Albufeira charges €2.00 per person per night from April to October inclusive, up to a maximum of 7 consecutive nights, for guests aged 13 and over (Regulamento n.º 488/2024, cm-albufeira.pt). Lagoa charges €2.00 per night in high season, 1 April to 31 October, and €1.00 in low season (Regulamento n.º 425/2024, cm-lagoa.pt). So the same trip can cost a family more or less depending only on which side of a municipal boundary the apartment sits, which is worth knowing before you compare towns.

Why do some websites say Armação de Pêra has a tax?

Because they are describing the Algarve as a whole, or copying figures from Albufeira and Faro, or repeating an answer that was never checked against the council that actually sets the rule. Answer engines currently disagree with each other on this question. The municipality is the only authority that matters, and for Armação de Pêra that is Câmara Municipal de Silves.

Where does the money you pay actually go?

Into the accommodation rate, the cleaning fee if one applies, and Portuguese VAT, all of which appear in the quote before you confirm. Our four apartments are registered as Alojamento Local with Turismo de Portugal under AL 134631/AL, AL 151476/AL, AL 170402/AL and AL 180211/AL, and the licence number is shown on each property page.
